Christian Louboutin, a French shoe designer, was born in 1964 in Paris. He was raised by his mother and father, who was a skilled carpenter, along with four sisters. He left school at the age of 16 and moved to Romans-sur-Isere (the center of France's footwear industry) to become an apprentice at Charles Jourdan's shoe factory. He used to sneak out of school regularly, from the age of 12, to watch the showgirls at some Paris nightclubs, because he was fascinated by their costumes, and cites this as his main inspiration for becoming a shoe designer: "[The showgirls] influenced me a lot. If you like high heels, it's really the ultimate high heel - it's all about the legs, how they carry themselves, the embellishment of the body. They are the ultimate icons." Although Louboutin faced much opposition following his decision to leave school so early, he claims that his resolve was strengthened after watching an interview on TV with Sophia Loren in which she introduced her sister, saying she had to leave school when she was only 12 but when she turned 50 she got her degree. "Everybody applauded! And I thought, 'Well, at least if I regret it I'm going to be like the sister of Sophia Loren!"

The inception of Louboutin's trademark red sole is somewhat vague, but it seems that he was inspired to paint the sole of his shoe red after seeing an assistant painting her nails (red) while he was working on a shoe design. He immediately seized the bottle of nail polish and painted it directly on to the sole of the (prototype) shoe. Being pleased with the effect, he originally planned to paint all of his shoes with different coloured soles, however, after seeing the popularity of the red soled shoe he abandoned this idea, and allowed the red sole to become his signature. Another inspiration that contributed to Christian Louboutin's lethal-looking heels was an incident that occured in his early twenties. He had visited a museum and noticed a sign that forbade women with sharp stilettos from entering the building, for fear that it would damage the extensive wood flooring. This sign stuck in his memory, and later he used this idea in his designs. "I wanted to make something that defied rules," Louboutin has said. "I wanted it to make women feel confident and empowered, because that's the sexiest thing a woman can be."

Celebrities ranging from Angelina Jolie to Carrie Hoff to Mariah Carey [1], are fans of Christian Louboutin shoes and many celebrities are now choosing his shoes as their red carpet accessories. Patti LaBelle signed an endorsement contract with the company to wear their shoes during her concerts and on the red carpet. Her favorite are the Diamond Encrusted pumps. Angelina Jolie has favored his designs on almost all red carpet appearances. In her movie 'Wanted', Angelina Jolie dons a pair as the assassin 'Fox', these beige round-toed Louboutin's are from her personal collection. Anggun wore Christian Louboutin shoes in her "Si tu l'avoues / Crazy / Jadi Milikmu" video, the distinctive soles are plainly visible when she dances through the jolt upside-down camera's rolling. As on the back cover of Anggun's Elevation album, she wore Christian Louboutin golden heels shoes. Kylie Minogue also wore Christian Louboutin shoes in her "2 Hearts" video, which the magenta red soles are noticeable when she maneuvered on the piano. Britney Spears has been spotted wearing Louboutin shoes while clubbing in Los Angeles and at various court dates for her custody battle. Christina Aguilera is also a fan of Louboutin's creations, often seen wearing them to events, and during her recent Back To Basics tour. Madonna wore Christian's black patent leather studded mary-janes in her Live Earth performance. Japanese pop star Ayumi Hamasaki is also a fan of the brand, seen wearing platform peep-toe Louboutins in basic colors such as nude and black, as well as rhinestone pumps in a photo shoot for Sweet magazine, also Japanese jazz singer Shiina Ringo was noticed to wear a significant number of Louboutins during the promotion of her band's CD Variety. Louboutin also designed shoes for hit pop sensation Mika which he wore at his July 4,2008, show at Parc des Princes. In a episode of Cribs UK, Danielle Lloyd shows of her many styles of Louboutin's shoes. Leigh Lezark and Rachel Bilson are also known fans of Christian Louboutin.

Christian Louboutin currently has five boutiques in the United States. Two are located in New York, and one in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and in South Coast Plaza of Orange County. Stores are planned for Bal Harbour, Boston, and Chicago.
In Asia, the first Christian Louboutin boutique was opened in October 2007 on On Lan Street in Central, Hong Kong.
In addition to the stores a large proportion of sales are also done online through online stores and boutiques.
In Australia, you can find his shoes sold in Melbourne , Bisbane and Sydney in David Jones stores.
Recently, Louboutin opened his first store in South America in Shopping Iguatemi São Paulo. [2]

The Oprah Winfrey show featured Christian Louboutin and a collection of his shoes in a show dedicated to 'the face behind the name', Louboutins were on display around the set, with Oprah Winfrey describing the shoes as 'pieces of art'.
Christian has recently collaborated with famous director David Lynch and they have created an exhibition featuring rare shoes by Louboutin, they are on show at the Pierre Passebon Gallery. The exhibition is named 'Fetish'.
R&B singer, Ciara's up coming "Crunk&B" single "High Price", references Christian Louboutin stating, "See me in the club rockin' Christian Louboutin."
Jay-Z's song "I Know" from the "American Gangster" album mentions Louboutin. "I am so dope, like Louboutin's with the red bottoms, you gotta have 'em, you glad you got 'em."

Audrina Patridge: PETA's Sexy New Angel

Audrina Patridge was no angel on The Hills the other night, making eyes at Brody Jenner while his girlfriend, Jayde Nicole, was far from pleased.
But the reality star has certainly earned a set of wings (which look great with that sexy white bikini, if you ask us) in her new campaign for PETA!
On a billboard set to be unveiled today on L.A.'s Beverly Boulevard, Audrina Patridge poses in a provocative angel outfit with her rescued dog, Speedy Gonzalez, next to the line, "Be an Angel for Animals-Always Adopt, Never Buy."

Audrina Patridge looks so good in this ad, we'll forgo the usual PETA wise cracks. We much prefer Speedy Gonzalez to that other dog she's often seen with, Justin-Bobby.
In a statement released by PETA, Audzo says, in support of the animal rights group, "Each year, 6-8 million unwanted dogs and cats are turned in to shelters, and half are killed because there aren't enough good homes."
"The solution to this problem is as easy as ABC - animal birth control. Always spay and neuter, and never buy from a pet store or a breeder."

When Lauren Conrad hit the Paley Fest red carpet with cast mates Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Lo Bosworth and Stephanie Pratt (sadly, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were no-shows), a wide range of Hills gossip followed.
Spencer's sister told the crowd that the couple, whose weekend wedding is being filmed as the show's season finale, were in the "studio, making hit music."
Stephanie also dished on being a Speidi bridesmaid:
"I've never been to a wedding before. I know that [Holly Montag] is in it. I'm hoping that she is Maid of Honor because I will screw everything up."

Of the gruesome twosome's pre-wedding festivities, Stephanie Pratt said, "I don't think Spencer is allowed to have a bachelor party. Holly and I are throwing around the idea of a bridal shower before. I just hope no one objects [at the wedding]."
The conversation soon turned to - you guessed it! - the Lauren Conrad sex tape rumors that infamously dominated a full season of the reality show.
When asked if she still believes that it was Spencer Pratt who spread the rumor that she and Jason Wahler made a sex tape, Lauren said, "We have it on tape that he [Spencer] takes responsibility for it. Sorry. Spoiler alert!"

Speidi Twitters Support For Perez, Rips Carrie Prejean

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag may be shameless, self-promoting and annoying, but the Bible-reading Hills pair believes all human beings are equal and should receive the same rights they will enjoy when they get married Saturday.
In the wake of the ongoing controversy surrounding Carrie Prejean, the Miss USA runner-up who says Perez Hilton's question about - and her opposition to - gay marriage cost her the crown, Twitter-obsessed Spencer wrote to Perez:
"This Miss USA question was genius! GOD is ALL LOVE so any way that people try to use GOD to make other people feel bad is PURE EVIL!!!"
We can't believe we're saying it, but Mr. Pratt actually deserves some props for this profoundly simple point. As does his plastic bride-to-be.

On her Twitter page, Heidi Montag offered support for the celebrity gossip blogger and gays and lesbians across the world, Tweeting passionately:
"God says in the bible that we should love our neighbor and he created us all as equals. I know in my heart that gays and lesbians should have the same government rights that Spencer and I will when we get married. So, yes, this blonde Christian believes in gay marriage and I hope to one day go to YOUR wedding, Perez!!!"
Take that, Carrie Prejean.
And it's not just Speidi - you can count Miley Cyrus as a member of Team Perez, as well. Here's what the 16-year-old star had to Twitter:
"Jesus loves you AND your partner and wants you to know how much he cares! thats like a daddy not loving his lil boy cuz hes gay and that is WRONG and very sad! like i said everyone deserves to be happy ... i am a christian and i love you - gay or not. BECAUSE you are no different that anyone else! we are all gods children!"



Rihanna: Not Touring, Just Boating

She was hit hard by Chris Brown, but Rihanna isn't hitting the road anytime soon, despite a report circulated by E! Online that she was planning on kicking off a huge North American Tour this September with Ciara or Keyshia Cole.
"She wants strong women to join her," a source told E! of the singer, who was assaulted in February by Brown. "This is a 'women empowerment' type of tour."
Well, a source close to the singer says it's "not true" that she's going on tour this fall. Instead, she's keeping a low profile until Chris Brown's case is settled.
As he awaits his court date next week - and may or may not be passing time boinking Natalie Mejia - Rihanna kicked it on the high seas ... with Katy Perry!
The two are vacationing together in the R&B star's native Barbados ...
